Description
The
Analyst/Programmer is responsible for analysis, design, creation,
testing, documentation, implementation and maintenance of computer
software. This includes project leadership responsibilities. The
Analyst/Programmer is also responsible for the completion of various
business tasks as assigned by the Information Systems (I/S) department
manager.
- Design, write, test and document computer programs, subroutines, and scripts to meet project objectives
- Analyze requirements for new and existing computer systems
- Maintain existing computer programs
- Resolve production computer system problems (24 hours per day)
- Act as a mentor to new employees
- Re-engineer business functions by evaluating requests for service, questioning existing policies, procedures, workflows, etc., to ensure that the best systems are identified and implemented
- As a project leader, the Analyst/Programmer is responsible for creating and carrying out the project plan. This includes:
- Coordinating all project activity in order to fulfill requirements within the deadline
- Interacting with staff of all levels in the user community in order to define business needs
- Conducting/documenting meetings with all levels of staff and management.
- Analysis and design of automated business solutions
- Cost/benefit analysis
- Writing technical program specifications
- Assigning tasks to 1 to 4 other exempt personnel
- Verifying results of staff assignments
- Programming and testing of computer programs
- Perform the role of mentor by offering advice, suggestions or other means of support to new programmer personnel.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent technical experience is required.
- 4 to 5 years systems analysis and programming experience required with a minimum 3 years experience in ASP.net/VB.net.
- Must work well in a team environment and have experience in writing well-designed and well-optimized code.
- Strong understanding of database concepts is required (preferably using SQL Server).
- Working knowledge of Visual Studio.net and MS SourceSafe is also required.
- Above average written and oral communication skills are required. Verifiable ability to quickly grasp objectives and find ways to make additional improvements.
- Demonstrated leadership, analysis, design, and project management skills.
- Required skills: ASP.net, (using VB.net), SQL server (SQL/T-SQL, stored procedures, referential integrity, indexes), JavaScript/HTML/CSS, OO design, strong analytical skills.
- Additional skills (would be a plus): UI design (graphics) proficiency, DB2, XML Spy, system design/architecture, Cobol, IIS 6.0, Windows and Web services development experience, SSRS.
